Toby Keith & Trace Adkins Sing “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue” In Powerful Tribute To Those Lost On 9/11

Toby Keith Wrote “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue” In Response To 9/11

Nine years after the 9/11 attacks, Toby Keith had his good friend Trace Adkins join him onstage for a tribute to the innocent lives lost on that tragic day.

September 11, 2001, is a date deeply etched in the minds of Americans. As each year passes, we reflect on the tragedy that took place that day and remember the many lives that were lost.

After the 9/11 attacks, many country stars reacted in the best way they knew how…through song. One of the most powerful songs from that period was Toby Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,” also known as “The Angry American.”

The song also pays tribute to Keith’ father, who died earlier in 2001.

Keith’s father, a Korean War veteran, had a strong sense of patriotism and love for his country. Keith channeled his father’s feelings into “Courtesy,” resulting in a #1 hit that still plays at patriotic celebrations today.

Following Keith’s own death on February 5, 2024, the song was played by many in tribute to the late singer and his unwavering patriotism.

On August 28, 2010, nearly nine years after the 9/11 attacks, Keith performed “Courtesy” during a concert in Noblesville, Indiana. But he didn’t sing alone. He invited a special guest to join him onstage.

That guest just so happened to be Trace Adkins. He and Keith shared a close friendship, which they maintained until Keith’s death in 2024.

Like Keith, people know Adkins as a proud patriot and a strong supporter of the U.S. military. In addition to embarking on numerous USO tours, Adkins often records and releases songs inspired by and in tribute to those serving in the armed forces.

One of Adkins’ most recent songs to fall under that umbrella is “Still a Solider.” The powerful song serves as Adkins’ tip of the hat to all who have served and since returned home, acknowledging how they will never leave the “battlefield” behind them.

Considering Adkins’ own devotion to America, he was the perfect person to join Keith in singing “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue.”

The duo’s performance was a powerful salute to America, its heroes, and those we lost on 9/11. Now that Keith is no longer with us, this video also serves as a testament to his legacy and love for his country.
