Miranda Lambert Opens Up About The Truth Behind Her 2016 Single ‘Vice”
The country superstar opened up about the story behind her single, “Vice,” which was released in 2016 after taking a year-long break from music.
“We all have things in our life that aren’t necessarily pleasant to talk about,” Miranda Lambert began. “But this song is as honest as you can get about emotions and letting raw emotions live where they live until you move on to a happier place.”
“I hope that everybody that hears it can feel like they’re not on an island.”
“Vice” is the first song she released after her four-year marriage came to an end in July 2016. Her ex-husband, Blake Shelton, released his own revealing single “She’s Got a Way with Words” in June 2016, which is suspected to address the details of their divorce as well.
The hit off of her double album The Weight Of These Wings covers vices such as alcohol, music, goodbyes…and men.

“Sometimes when we’re not [sunshine and roses] we find things that make us feel better at the moment. That’s what a vice is,” she explained. “I think when you go through something in your life that’s hard, you learn what you run to and what you run from.”
The song is incredible as a recording, but when she stripped it down at the CMA Awards and performed it by herself, without a backing band, it was made so much more powerful and vulnerable at the same time.
