Alan Jackson Sings “America The Beautiful” For 4th Of July Special

Alan Jackson Sings Ode To America During PBS’ Annual 4th Of July Concert

Country music legend Alan Jackson honored America with a moving performance of “America the Beautiful” during a past TV special for the 4th of July.

PBS celebrates the patriotic holiday during an annual televised concert special called A Capitol Fourth. The 2021 lineup of performers included several country singers, such as Mickey Guyton, Jennifer Nettles, and Alan Jackson.

Jackson performed his hit single “Drive” during the special. Released in 2002, “Drive” was written as a tribute to Jackson’s late father, Eugene Jackson.

In addition to singing “Drive,” Jackson also performed “America the Beautiful.” The lyrics of the patriotic song were penned by Katharine Lee Bates, while its music was composed by Samuel A. Ward.

The song has been covered by many country singers in the past, including Garth Brooks, Daryle Singletary, and Martina McBride. Perhaps most memorably, it was performed by Willie Nelson and an ensemble of stars during the 2001 America: A Tribute to Heroes telethon.
