About Tommy Cash’s life and career
Tommy Cash was born in Dyess, Arkansas, on April 5, 1940, eight years after his older brother Johnny Cash. Like his brother, Tommy showed an aptitude for music and formed his first band in high school.
In his early adult years, Tommy enlisted in the US Army, where he worked as a radio DJ for the Armed Forces Radio Network. After his time of service, Tommy joined the band of country star Hank Williams, Jr., which ultimately led to him securing his own deal with Musicor Records in 1965.
Tommy released his debut album, Here’s Tommy Cash, in 1968. Over the course of his career, Tommy released more than a dozen albums and charted three top-10 hits. His biggest hit was “Six White Horses” a song dedicated to John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr.
Tommy passed away one day after the 21st anniversary of Johnny Cash’s death. Johnny died on September 12, 2003, at the age of 71, from complications of diabetes.
