Luke Bryan reacts to Abi Carter winning “American Idol”
Abi Carter clinched the title of the 22nd Season Winner of American Idol.
Luke Bryan, one of the show’s judges, was eager to extend his congratulations to her following her remarkable victory.
From her debut on the show, Carter captivated audiences as a standout contestant. Hailing from Indio, California, the 21-year-old wowed with her rendition of “What Was I Made For?” during her audition.
Her performance left judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie spellbound. Bryan, impressed, turned to Richie with a smile, remarking, “She might just be the next ‘American Idol’ winner.”
The judges gave Carter one of only three Platinum tickets they had to present this season.
As a recipient of the Platinum ticket, Carter skipped the first rounds of the competition in Hollywood. She continued to advance through the ranks with covers of songs by Elton John, Adele, Fleetwood Mac, and The Little Mermaid.

At last, Carter found herself in the Top 3. Jack Blocker and Will Moseley advanced into the Top 3 alongside her.
Carter was revealed as the winner during the exciting season finale on Sunday (May 19). Blocker came in third, while Moseley came in second place.
When host Ryan Seacrest read her name, Carter gasped in shock and fell to the stage on her knees.
Later, Carter shared her stunned reaction to her win. She said:
“I’m just a girl from Indio, who used to sing on street corners, and now I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to work with some of the most talented people in the industry and be heard by millions of people. This is my dream and I know it’s just the beginning. I love you all so much.”
After predicting she’d win it all during her audition, Bryan was one of the first to congratulate Carter on her victory.
Bryan shared a photo they took together after the finale. The caption read, “Congrats to our 2024 #AmericanIdol @abicartermusic! You blew us away this year…”
Carter responded in the comments, writing, “I’m so so so honored, you pushed me to be greater than I am over the past few weeks. I can’t thank you enough.”
