Jessica Sanchez Returns To “America’s Got Talent” 20 Years After Her First Audition – Did She Make It Through?
Jessica Sanchez Appeared On The First Season Of America’s Got Talent
Ten-year-old Jessica Sanchez auditioned for Season One of America’s Got Talent in 2006. Hosted by Regis Philbin, America’s Got Talent‘s first judging panel included David Hasselhoff, Brandy, and Piers Morgan. The show ran differently back then, so she didn’t have a televised audition, but Brandy brought her to the semifinals as her Wildcard pick. Her cover of “I Surrender” by Celine Dion impressed the judges so much that they all approved of her performance.
Despite receiving high praise from the judging panel, she was not voted through to the finals. Her road to stardom didn’t end there, though!
In 2012, she auditioned for Season 11 of American Idol, where she made it all the way to the finale episode alongside Phillip Phillips.
Phillip Phillips ended up winning that season of Idol.
After 20 Years, Jessica Sanchez Has Made A Triumphant Return To America’s Got Talent
Season 20 of America’s Got Talent is underway and they are looking for the best talent this country has to offer. And because it’s a monumental season, of course they brought back a monumental singer.
Jessica Sanchez, from Season One of AGT, returned to audition for the historic 20th season. She shocked everyone when she revealed who she was and how that she was one of the very first people to be on the show!
When asked what she’s been up to the last 20 years, Sanchez revealed that she fell out of love with music for a time because she was so young when she first auditioned. But she managed to find that love again and decided to give AGT another try.
“Throughout the years, I kind of fell out of love of music because I was really young and I was so swayed by what everybody wanted me to be, who they wanted me to be,” she said. “And so maybe it took me 20 years, but I know exactly who I am. I know exactly what I want. I’m excited to be back.”
