Jelly Roll Says ‘I Don’t Want to Win Entertainer of the Year’ at Upcoming CMAs

On the heels of Jelly Roll releasing his new album, Beautifully Broken, we had the chance to sit down with the 2024 CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee, and he dropped a bomb on us.

When talking to Taste of Country Nights, host Evan Paul asked what it meant to him to be nominated for Entertainer of the Year — among other nominations — at the upcoming 2024 CMA Awards.

“When I was nominated for these four awards, and I called my publicist, and I said, ‘I don’t know how this works, but do we campaign for one?'”

The “I Am Not Okay” singer continued by explaining that his publicist then asked him, “Well, which one do you want to win, besides Entertainer of the Year?”

To which Jelly Roll replied:

“‘I don’t want to win Entertainer of the Year. I wanna win Collab of the Year, I wanna win Event of the Year.'”

Why those two specific awards, out of his four nominations?

Jelly Roll says, “‘Cause ‘Save Me’ meant so much to me, man. It was the song that did it. It was the song that changed my whole life, then went on to radio and changed my life again.”

The singer continued, “And then to see, come four years later and this song has helped millions of people and I’m winning a fu–ing award for it? I’m like, ‘Get out, this is crazy.'”
Jelly Roll has had a year to remember in 2024, and the same can be said about 2023 as well. No doubt his career and life are in better places today than they were when he originally penned “Save Me.”
