“Inside Toby Keith’s Legacy: Unveiling the Family Safeguards Against ‘Persistent Threats'”

Toby Keith finalized his will just months after receiving his cancer diagnosis

Country music legend Toby Keith passed away on February 5, 2024, after losing his battle with stomach cancer. He was diagnosed in the fall of 2022 but did not go public with the news until June 2023. He shared in a statement:

“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”

Now, five months after his death, court documents obtained by InTouch reveal that Toby Keith outlined what would happen to his fortune in December 2022, just a couple of months after receiving the diagnosis. The late singer was worth an estimated $400 million.

Toby Keith’s will revealed that his family was under “constant threats”

Toby is survived by his wife, Tricia, and three children: Rashelle, Krystal, and Stelen. The family has sealed most filings related to the will, and Tricia, the administrator of the estate, has requested that her late-husbands assets not be revealed in court to protect the privacy of her family.

Tricia’s attorney noted in a filing that the will contained “confidential information” about family members and Toby’s business interests at the time of his death. He added that if the information became known to the public, it “would likely increase the threat to the safety and security of the Personal Representative and the heirs.”

The lawyer asserted:

“Toby is an accomplished musician and entertainer known around the world as ‘Toby Keith.’ Because of his celebrity status and fame, he and his family are under constant threats for their safety and security.”

Toby Keith went to great lengths to protect his family

The filing continued that during his lifetime, the famous musician had to take “numerous measures” to keep his personal information and that of his family members hidden from the public. These included:

“Having his home address and deed to his homestead sealed from the public record by court order, using an alias name for himself, his wife and children, and engaging a personal security company to provide security for himself and that of his family members at all times of the day and night, week and year.

It is reported that the court has granted Tricia’s request to seal the case.
