The Texas Heritage Songwriters Association has announced the newest members of the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2026, country legends George Strait and Miranda Lambert will be inducted, alongside Don Cook and the late Keith Gattis.
The organization honors songwriters who shaped Texas culture through music. Both Strait and Lambert perfectly represent that tradition.

Don Cook and Keith Gattis Honored
Don Cook, from Carrizo Springs, Texas, wrote hits recorded by Barbara Mandrell, Blake Shelton, Clay Walker, Kelly Clarkson, and George Jones. Brooks & Dunn also found success with his songs Brand New Man, Lost and Found, and Only in America.
The late Keith Gattis, from Georgetown, Texas, collaborated with Kenny Chesney (El Cerrito Place), George Jones (Real Deal), George Strait (I Got a Car), and Miranda Lambert (I Just Really Miss You).
Induction Ceremony Date
Strait, Lambert, Cook, and Gattis will officially be inducted on February 21, 2026, at ACL Live in Austin, Texas.
Giving Back: George Strait and Miranda Lambert’s Texas Flood Relief Efforts
Beyond their musical achievements, both George Strait and Miranda Lambert have shown their dedication to Texas through philanthropy.

On July 27, 2024, Strait hosted a benefit concert in Boerne, Texas, raising $6.25 million for flood relief.

On August 17, 2024, Lambert partnered with Parker McCollum for the Band Together Texas show at Austin’s Moody Center. Featuring Cody Johnson, Ronnie Dunn, Lukas Nelson, and a surprise appearance by Jason Aldean, the event raised $8.5 million.
Both events supported Texans affected by devastating floods in the Hill Country earlier that summer.

Miranda Lambert Reacts To News Of Her Hall Of Fame Induction
On Thursday (August 21), Lambert shared a post reacting to her induction into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame. She wrote:
“It is a huge honor to learn that I will be inducted into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame next year. Especially alongside my hero @GeorgeStrait, and legends Don Cook and @keithgattis.”
Lambert paired her message with an old photo of her and her dad when she was young. The picture shows her dad playing guitar with Lambert by his side.
“My dad was my first co-writer. He taught me how to play guitar and is a huge part of the reason for my love of country music. I’m grateful for what music and songwriting has done in my life,” Lambert said.
