Disney+ and Hulu are increasing their subscription prices again.

Disney has announced a significant price increase for several of its streaming service subscriptions, affecting both Disney+ and Hulu users.

This latest adjustment comes as part of a broader trend in the streaming landscape, where prices have climbed yearly. Starting now, while the Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads remains at $12.99, various other plans are seeing raised rates. An ad-free subscription for either Disney+ or Hulu will now cost $21.49, representing a $2.50 hike, while the ad-free bundle for both services has also risen to $21.99, an increase of $2.

Noteworthy Price Adjustments

For those opting for either Disney+ or Hulu with ads, the new price stands at $12.49. This change continues a troubling trend; just a year ago, Disney raised prices across the board, with subscriptions experiencing a similar increase of around $2 for plans that included ads.

The last round of increases marked the third consecutive year of price hikes for Disney+, meaning consumers are now facing their fourth straight year of escalating costs from the company. The ramifications extend beyond Disney, as similar practices are being seen across the streaming industry.

Industry-Wide Trends

Other major streaming platforms are not immune to these price fluctuations. Earlier this year, Netflix increased the cost of its basic plan with ads to $8.99 per month. The premium subscription saw a $2 increase, bringing its total to $26.99. HBO Max has also implemented price hikes, indicating that subscribers may continue to face rising costs across multiple services.

As streaming services adjust their pricing structures, consumers will be faced with tough decisions regarding their viewing habits. The continuous rise in subscription fees underscores the shifting dynamics of the media landscape and how these platforms adapt to market pressures.
