3 Doors Down has been forced to abruptly cancel all upcoming tour dates after frontman Brad Arnold revealed that he has been diagnosed with kidney cancer that has spread to his lungs.
Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down Reveals Cancer Diagnosis
The 46-year-old rocker took to social media on Wednesday (May 7) to deliver the heartbreaking news in a video message to fans, revealing that he has been diagnosed with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), a form of kidney cancer that has metastasized to his lungs, resulting in a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis.
The band captioned the video, “Thank you for all the memories so far. Now, I believe “IT’S NOT MY TIME” is really my song. This’ll be a battle, so we need our prayers warriors! Thank y’all for being the best fans in the world. We love y’all!”
The clip began with him sharing the sad news of his diagnosis. “Hey everybody, it’s Brad from 3 Doors Down. I hope you’re having a great day today. Got some not so good news for you today… So I’d been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out and had actually got the diagnosis that I had a clear renal carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung and that’s stage four. And that’s not real good,” Arnold explained in the clip.

Cancels All Tour Dates And Festival Appearances
As a result of the diagnosis, the award-winning rock band has officially canceled all scheduled tour dates for the foreseeable future. This includes their own headlining shows, festival appearances, and previously announced support dates with CREED, as well as a performance at Morgan Wallen’s Sand In My Boots Festival.
Despite the severity of the diagnosis, Brad Arnold shared that he is leaning on his faith and optimism as he battles the illness.
“But you know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can over overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really sincerely am not scared of it at all, but it is going to force us to cancel our tour this summer, and we’re sorry for that,” Arnold continued.
Arnold went on to ask fans for their support and prayers during this difficult time, referencing the band’s 2008 hit “It’s Not My Time” as a source of strength. “And I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer, every chance you get and I think it’s time for me to go listen to ‘It’s Not My Time’ a little bit, right? Thank you guys so much. God loves you. We love you. See you,” Arnold concluded.
Flooded With Love And Encouragement From Fans And Fellow Artists
Following the announcement, fans and fellow artists such as Scott Stapp of CREED and Chris Daughtry flooded the comments with heartfelt messages of encouragement and prayers for Arnold.
“Sending you love my brother,” Daughtry commented, while Stapp added, “If anyone has the FAITH and STRENGTH to face this fight, it’s YOU brother. You and your family are in my prayers daily🙏🏼 We can do ALL things through CHRIST. I think I can speak for all of us, we are lifting you up in prayer right now, believing without doubt for your total healing! I love you bro…👊🏼✝️🙏🏼”
Arnold, known for his powerful vocals, has fronted 3 Doors Down since their formation in 1996. The band rose to fame with their smash hit “Kryptonite” and has since sold millions of albums worldwide, becoming a staple in the early 2000s rock scene.
3 Doors Down’s official website has been wiped, and all tour dates have been canceled.
