Zach Top’s Onstage Gender Reveal Goes Hilariously Wrong at West Virginia State Fair

Country music rising star Zach Top gave fans an unforgettable moment at the West Virginia State Fair — and it had nothing to do with his setlist. While performing live, the “Sounds Like the Radio” singer helped a couple with an onstage gender reveal, and let’s just say… it didn’t go exactly as planned.

A Special Moment Turns Into a Comedy Bit

During his show, Zach accepted a folded piece of paper from Kelsey Longbon and her husband, Dalton. Inside was the big reveal for their baby’s gender. But before the touching moment could happen, the crowd broke into the famously rowdy “Eat sh*t Pitt” chant — a tradition among West Virginia fans aimed at rival University of Pittsburgh.

Laughing, Zach told the audience:

“You were chanting something else than ‘Reveal this baby’s gender,’ but I’m gonna do this anyways.”

Though he joked along, he also admitted, “My mom doesn’t like it when I cuss onstage.”

The Big Reveal… Sort Of

When Zach unfolded the paper, the crowd could clearly see it read: “IT’S A GIRL” in bold marker. The problem? Zach didn’t notice. He held it the wrong way, giving the audience the news before he even realized it himself.

Turning it around, he laughed and confessed:

“I messed that up. If you didn’t see it…it’s a girl! Congratulations Kelsey and Dalton!”

The crowd erupted, and the couple soaked in the joy of the moment — botched reveal and all.

@kelsayyy7 The coolest thing ever! Even got to meet him backstage after! Thanks @Zach Top @State Fair of WV #zachtop #genderreveal #countrymusic ♬ original sound – Kelsey

A Memory for a Lifetime

According to Kelsey’s TikTok, there were no hard feelings. In fact, the couple even met Zach backstage after the show. It wasn’t their first encounter either — Kelsey had chatted with Zach in June 2024 about her wedding, where one of his songs was their first dance track.

Zach Top on Tour with Dierks Bentley

Fans can catch more of Zach’s charm and humor on the road. He’s currently opening for Dierks Bentley on the Broken Branches Tour, and even joins the encore as part of Bentley’s hilarious ’90s parody band Hot Country Knights. In full mullet wig and outrageous costume, Zach takes on the alter ego Billy Bottoms Jr., jokingly introduced as Bentley’s alter ego Doug Douglason’s “illegitimate son.”

Between his smooth vocals, infectious personality, and moments like this gender reveal mishap, it’s clear Zach Top is a country star to watch — both for his music and his ability to turn any show into a night fans will never forget.
