Zach Bryan To Release Reimagined Version Of “Rattlesnake” With Jack Van Cleaf

New music incoming.

This afternoon, Zach Bryan announced that he’s releasing a reimagined version of singer/songwriter Jack Van Cleaf’s “Rattlesnake” on January 29th. And better yet, the song will be a duet a with Jack himself.

He has been teasing some original songs for a while now, and fans have been speculation that he might have a new album in the works, one that’s coming sooner rather than later, and this collaboration would seem like a great contribution to whatever project he’s working on.

Of course, late last year Zach dropped “High Road” and “This World’s A Giant” amid his very public breakout with Barstool sports personality Brianna LaPaglia. He also confirmed in his conversation with Bruce Springsteen that he had a number of songs already written for his next album.

However, more recently, Zach teamed up with Matthew McConaughey once again to announce a video project titled “Motorbreath,” that would capture a 2-week motorcycle ride with him and his best friends as they recorded “one final major label album.”

“This is not a film about a band, this is a film about a boy from Oklahoma. A boy who joined the Navy, with a love of writing. That writing connected with people, a lot of people. This film is about a group of best friends taking a two-week motorcycle ride across America, while recording one final major label album. Oh, and the title of the film you ask? ‘Motorbreath.’”

So all of that to say… Zach has been cooking up some tunes.

Today, Zach shared this new announcement on Instagram, along with a very short teaser of the first line of the song, saying that he’s become the “best of friends” with Jack and called it one of the “best written songs of all time,” adding that Jack is a “genius”:

“To become the best of friends with people through music in the city. Think that may be the point of all this. Jack & me re-recorded one of the best written songs of all time (jack is a genius) and it’s out on the 29th of January hope u guys listen to it.”

Fans on Jack’s Instagram seemed really excited to see him teaming up with Zach:

“Lfg dude this is awesome!”

“Sounds super beautiful! Can’t wait.”

‘Yayyyyy good job Jack.”

“ALREADY INSUFFERABLE ABOUT THIS.”

“This is awesome.”

“Oh man.”

“Dude this is insane, I can’t wait to see this my top song on Spotify this year.”

“Oh my god? I will never shut up about this.”

‘Freaking out.”

“The collab of the year”

“The next Isbell finally getting recognized for his talent”

“THIS IS BIG.”

The song itself is right in Zach’s wheelhouse in terms of lyrical content, and even the production on the original, though we’ll see how similar they keep it on the final cut:

“Losing touch in Tennessee
Freedom’s got the best of me
Goddamn my opportunities
Goddamn this easy livin’

Gasping for the mountain air
Crawling up the campus stairs
My throne is an electric chair
I’m stunned with indecision

Hmm
Pray for upgrades on my soul
Tearing through an open road
Questioning my moral code
And screaming at a windshield…”
