Watch Post Malone Light Up The Stage With A Cover Of Jason Aldean’s “Amarillo Sky”
Watch Post Malone Sing “Amarillo Sky”
On December 31, Post Malone was part of the lineup for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest to ring in 2026.
During his time on stage, he covered several classic country songs, but one that still has people talking is his take on Jason Aldean’s “Amarillo Sky.”
The song “Amarillo Sky” was originally written by Big Kenny and John Rich (Big & Rich), along with Rodney Clawson and Bart Pursley. Rich had recorded it for his 2001 album Rescue Me, but it became best known when Jason Aldean covered it for his 2005 debut album.
Aldean’s version went on to earn him two ACM Award nominations, including Video of the Year and Song of the Year.
Jason Aldean Has Shared His Thoughts On Post Malone Going Country Before
Aldean and Malone are actually friends, and before Malone released his first country album in 2024, Aldean shared his honest thoughts about the rapper stepping into the country music world.
In a past interview with Taste of Country Nights, Aldean admitted that he’s usually not a big fan of pop and rap artists suddenly jumping into country music.
“It seems like country is one of those things that, you know, whenever somebody’s career maybe is doing not as well as it once did, sometimes they always like to come over to country,” Aldean said.
However, he does believe that this is “not the case” when it comes to Malone’s musical transition.
“I think he’s just a country fan that loves the people in the genre, he loves the music.”
Aldean added, “He’s a guy that I think could thrive in this business, in our genre, more so than a lot of the other pop guys that try to come over here and do that.”
