THE VOICE: Christina Eagle Advances To Semi-Finals With Rowdy Cover Of Reba’s “Fancy”
Monday night’s episode of The Voice was an emotional one as Coach Snoop Dog and Coach Reba McEntire had to eliminate three team members each ahead of next week’s semi-finals.
During the two-hour episode of The Voice that aired Monday (November 25), each of the five remaining members of Team Snoop and Team Reba took the stage to perform. It was their last chance to convince their coach to choose them to compete in the live semi-finals.
One of the most compelling performances of the night came from Team Snoop’s Christina Eagle, who bravely took on “Fancy,” one of Reba McEntire’s most recognizable and popular songs.
Despite only turning Snoop’s chair during her Blind Audition, Eagle has consistently impressed in the weeks since. After nearly being eliminated during the Knockout Round, she earned a rare save and 3 steals as Reba, Michael Buble, and Gwen Stefani fought to get Christina to switch from Snoop’s team to theirs. Ultimately, she stayed loyal to Snoop.
He returned the favor by choosing her to advance to next week’s The Voice semi-finals following her performance of “Fancy” Monday night. The rousing cover earned Christina a standing ovation from the coaches and praise from Reba herself, who called the performance “incredible.”

About “Fancy”
“Fancy” was originally written and recorded by Bobbie Gentry in 1969. Gentry’s rendition saw moderate success, but it became a smashing hit when released by Reba McEntire in 1990. Reba’s version climbed as high as the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot Country Hits chart, but never reached No. 1. Regardless, the song became a fan favorite and could easily be called McEntire’s signature song.
“Fancy” has been covered numerous times over the years, thought not always on an album. LeAnn Rimes released an acoustic video cover of the song in 2020. Voice finalist Jordan Rainer covered the tune during her Blind Audition and earned a four-chair turn. American Idol champ, Kelly Clarkson, covered “Fancy” in honor of Reba at the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors.
