Rodeo Community Mourns the Loss of 13-Year-Old Amelia Palmer
The rodeo community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Amelia Palmer, a 13-year-old rising star remembered for her joy and spirit.
Amelia, recently crowned the Treasure Valley Rodeo’s Mini Queen, died on Monday, September 1, 2025, when a small plane carrying her family crashed in Wyoming’s Bighorn National Forest on Labor Day.
A Family’s Tragedy in Wyoming
According to the Idaho Statesman, Amelia’s parents, Earl and Cindy Palmer, were airlifted from the crash site in critical condition. Her younger brother, Aeron, 11, survived with minor injuries.
Emergency crews also transported Amelia to the hospital, but doctors could not save her.
The family had departed in a four-seat Piper PA-28 aircraft, which went down shortly after takeoff.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the cause of the crash.
Sheriff Levi Dominguez of Sheridan County praised first responders, calling their coordination “exceptional.” He added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their family.”

Remembering Amelia Palmer
Amelia’s rodeo family has filled social media with heartfelt tributes.
“Amelia, you were pure sunshine and brought joy to everyone you met. Our rodeo family won’t be the same without you, and our hearts are truly broken today,” shared the Treasure Valley Rodeo.
Friends, fellow riders, and community members continue to ask for prayers as they grieve and support the Palmer family.

Community Support for the Palmer Family
A GoFundMe fundraiser has launched to help the Palmers cover medical bills, funeral expenses, travel costs, and household needs.
“The family is in desperate need of love, strength, and healing right now,” the organizer wrote. He explained that Earl Palmer will need major reconstructive surgeries.
“Please give what you can to help. Every donation helps,” the fundraiser appeals.
Though Amelia’s life ended far too soon, those who loved her promise that her light and spirit will never be forgotten.
