Team Reba’s Josh Sanders Delivers Passionate “Go Rest High” Cover On ‘Voice’ Finale

Night One of The Voice Season 25 Finale launched on Monday (May 20) with captivating performances from all five finalists, including Team Reba’s standout, Josh Sanders.

Hailing from North Carolina, Sanders caught Team Reba’s attention with a compelling rendition of Nate Smith’s “Whiskey On You” during his Blind Audition, earning him a spot on the team. Throughout the competition, Sanders consistently showcased his country roots with stellar performances, maintaining his signature style.

During Monday’s episode, Sanders continued to impress. He graced the stage twice, aiming to secure enough votes from viewers to clinch the Voice title when the winner is revealed on Tuesday.

For his initial finale performance, the 35-year-old artist delivered a heartfelt rendition of Vince Gill’s timeless ballad, “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Then, switching gears, Sanders energized the audience with a lively rendition of Randy Houser’s hit, “Boots On,” showcasing his versatility and stage presence.

Josh Sanders was one of only two male country acts who advanced to the live rounds this season. Country singers like Josh have a history of doing well on The Voice, and pulling off a stunning Vince Gill cover is no easy feat.

“Go Rest High On That Mountain” has been covered numerous times on reality singing competitions. Not only is it a sure-fire way for contestants to connect emotionally with viewers, but it gives them a chance to show off voice control and range.

Josh Sanders did just that with his performance Monday night, proving once again that he can sing just about anything. Earlier in the season, he won over the country crowd with covers of songs from Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, Corey Kent and Nate Smith. But, it’s safe to say that his performance of this Vince Gill classic is our favorite from him.
