Reba McEntire’s Stepson, Shelby Blackstock, Shares Emotional Tribute After Brandon Blackstock’s Death

Reba McEntire’s son, Shelby Blackstock, has broken the family’s silence following the heartbreaking death of Brandon Blackstock. The 35-year-old, who was Brandon’s half-brother, took to Instagram to share a deeply moving tribute filled with cherished memories.

Despite a 13-year age gap, Shelby’s words and photos prove their strong bond.

“He taught me so much, leaving behind countless cherished memories that I will hold onto forever,” Shelby wrote. “For every treasured moment we shared, there are so many more we’ll never get to make together, but I know you’ll still be there — in every hunt, every flight, and in the everyday moments of life.”

With humor and love, Shelby added:

“And although it may annoy you, you’ll have to watch me do it all just a little better, a little smoother, and — let’s be honest — looking far more handsome than you ever could. We will always miss you, Brandon, and we will never stop loving, remembering, and celebrating you.”

Reba McEntire Said She Loved Brandon Blackstock Like He Was Her 'Blood' Prior to His Death at 48: Inside Their Bond

Who Was Brandon Blackstock?
Brandon Blackstock was Reba McEntire’s stepson, not her biological child. During her marriage to Narvel Blackstock, Reba loved and treated him as family. His biological mother is Narvel’s first wife, Elisa Gilbert, to whom he was married from 1973 to 1988.

Cause of Death
Brandon Blackstock’s illness was kept private until August 6, when Kelly Clarkson — his ex-wife — revealed she was postponing Las Vegas shows to support her children during a difficult time. The next day, his death was announced:

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

He had been fighting melanoma and leaves behind four children, including two from his first marriage.
