Reba McEntire to Guest Star on “Young Sheldon” as “Fun, Fiery Ex-Wife”
Country Music Hall of Famer, Golden Globe-nominated actor and Oklahoma native Reba McEntire will appear on an upcoming episode of the CBS sitcom “Young Sheldon.”
The series announced the upcoming guest-starring role on Twitter, and TVLine confirmed that Reba will appear on a February episode of the “Big Bang Theory” prequel series.
McEntire will play June, the “fun and fiery” ex-wife of Coach Dale Ballard, played by Craig T. Nelson. June strikes up an unlikely friendship with Young Sheldon Cooper’s (Iain Armitage) Meemaw (Annie Potts), who is dating the little league coach.
McEntire previously starred the popular WB comedy “Reba,” which co-starred Melissa Peterman, who plays Sheldon’s neighbor, Brenda Sparks. Unfortunately, TVLine has confirmed that McEntire and Peterman will not cross paths on “Young Sheldon.”
In addition to “Reba,” which ran for six seasons between 2001-07 and earned the eponymous star a Golden Globe nod, McEntire starred opposite Lily Tomlin in the short-lived 2012-13 ABC comedy “Malibu Country.” She has since made guest appearances on episodes of “Last Man Standing,” “Baby Daddy” and “The Neighbors.”
In addition, Reba has played several movie roles, most recently, as previously reported, voicing the boss of an espionage agency whose employees include Will Smith and Tom Holland, in the animated adventure “Spies in Disguise.” Her film credits also include “One Night at McCool’s,” “The Little Rascals” and her big-screen debut in the B-horror classic “Tremors,” which is marking its 30th anniversary this month.
