Morgan Wallen has shattered records, officially becoming the highest-selling country artist of all time, according to the latest data from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
After a landmark year marked by a chart-topping album, sold-out stadium performances, and multiple Diamond-certified hits, Wallen’s achievement underscores his monumental impact on the genre. Currently, he not only holds the top position in country music sales but also ranks third overall among all artists across genres, trailing only behind pop icons Taylor Swift and Drake.
The Rise of Morgan Wallen
Wallen first captured national attention as a contestant on The Voice in 2014. Following his early elimination, he relocated to Nashville and secured a record deal, paving the way for what would become one of country music’s most successful careers. By December 2025, Wallen had sold over 240 million units in the U.S., featuring more than 26 million albums and five Diamond-certified singles—the highest total for any country artist.
Record-Breaking Achievements
This month, Wallen was awarded 80 new certifications by the RIAA, further cementing his place in music history. His accolades include:
- Highest-Selling Country Artist of All Time
- Third Highest-Selling Artist Across All Genres
- Second Most Diamond Singles in All Genres
He has also made history as the first country artist to achieve five separate Diamond singles, each with over 10 million units sold:
- “Whiskey Glasses” – 13x Platinum
- “Wasted On You” – 12x Platinum
- “Last Night” – 12x Platinum
- “Heartless” – 10x Platinum
- “Chasin’ You” – 10x Platinum
Among these, “Whiskey Glasses” stands as the best-selling country song of all time.
The RIAA categorizes a “unit” as a diverse measure, with a single paid digital download equating to one unit, while 150 streams of audio or video also count as a unit. This broad definition highlights Wallen’s fan base’s strong support for both physical and digital album sales, a trend that remains robust in the evolving music landscape.
