Meet The Mules That Are Saving Lives In The Aftermath Of Hurricane Helene

When Roads Are Blocked, Pack Mules Step In To Bring Critical Aide To Isolated Survivors

The grassroots movement of normal people helping the victims of Hurricane Helene continues. This time, we want to shed some light on the mules saving lives.

Mountain Mule Packers Ranch owners are putting their horses, mules, and donkeys to work. The mules are trained for a time such as this. The ranch trains pack mules for use by the military or rescue teams to access terrain that has been cut off to vehicle transport.

How Are They Helping?

When the mule owners heard about the stranded victims of the hurricane, they jumped into action. The team posts daily updates on their Facebook page.

Their most recent update said:

“Mules and packers had a busy day yesterday…helping many people and bringing in a large amount of needed supplies! The stories We are praying along with you and working as hard as we can to help as many as possible! God bless! will soon hear! All came back tired, but safely back to camp! Thank you for keeping them in your prayers!!”

Asking for prayers and expressing gratitude for the ongoing support, the mules and their owners continue to deliver supplies to those in need.

“We broke the register at Walmart!!!! The system was not prepared for such a large order and they are having to scan EVERYTHING again and in two transactions….so We are going to be at Food Lion in Cleveland a little bit late! But We are on the way!!! Thank you for your patience!!!!!”

The mules traversed the roads that cars could not get through.

One touching story is of a man in desperate need of insulin. In partnership with a group of volunteers who provide disaster relief called the Cajun Navy, the mules provided the life-saving medicine. In their own words:

“One of the first families helped yesterday were in desperate need of insulin, and Mountain Mule Packers was able to get it up this otherwise impassable road!! Thanks for sharing Cajun Navy 2016!”
