Lainey Wilson Sings “Country’s Cool Again” At People’s Choice Awards

Lainey Wilson took the stage at Sunday night’s People’s Choice Awards to perform her new single, “Country’s Cool Again.”

Fresh on the heels of her Grammy win for Best Country Album, Lainey Wilson had the honor of being the sole country performer at Sunday night’s (Feb. 18) People’s Choice Awards.

Two weeks ago, the 31-year-old took home her first Grammy Award. Three months prior, Wilson amassed five CMA Awards, including the coveted Entertainer of the Year award, adding to an already-incredible year for the “Heart Like A Truck” singer.

It was only fitting that she represent the genre with a performance at this year’s People’s Choice Awards. She took the stage to perform her new single, “Country Is Cool Again,” a not-so-subtle nod to the resurgence of country music popularity in recent years. The song references her childhood as well as the seemingly new desire everyone has to “be a cowboy.”

“Everybody wanna be a cowboy
Drive a Jon boat, whip a John Deere
Everybody want a backwoods front porch
With a tub full of iced-down beer
Must be something in the water flowing out of the holler
Blue collar musta caught a new wind
Doggone, dadgum it, didn’t see that coming
Country’s cool again”

Wilson’s “Country’s Cool Again” single coincidentally shares a name with the singer’s upcoming tour that is scheduled to kick off in Nashville on May 31.. The tour will take Lainey to 37 cities across the U.S. between May and November.

Not only did Lainey Wilson perform during the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, but she was also a nominee.

Lainey Wilson was up for trophies at the fan-voted awards show in the all-genre The Female Artist of the Year category and the genre-specific category, The Female Country Artist of the Year.
