Lainey Wilson Shares How Miranda Lambert Helps Her Through Tough Times
Lainey Wilson Speaks About Her Friendships With Miranda Lambert & Ashley McBryde
Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert are two of country music’s biggest stars. Lambert released her debut album in 2005, while Wilson broke onto the scene following the release of her single “Things a Man Oughta Know” in 2020.
Just three years later, Wilson was named the Entertainer of the Year at the 2023 CMA Awards. She also took home four other trophies.
Wilson may be at the top of the world right now, but her journey to get to that point was challenging. She moved to Nashville in 2011, and lived in a camper outside of recording studio for some time. The owner of the recording studio helped Wilson make ends meet by paying for her water and electricity.
How Ashley McBryde Helped Support Lainey Early In Her Career
Someone else who helped support Wilson when she was just starting out was Ashley McBryde. In a recent conversation on Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen, Wilson opened up about how McBryde gave her a chance early on in her career:
“I remember sitting on her bus in Texas and she had let me open a few shows for her, just me and my guitar. And I remember her just looking at me dead in my face and saying, ‘Lainey, I believe in you and I love you.’ But she said, ‘and I’m going to help you over that wall, but you got to promise me that when you find people who you love and believe in as much as I do, that you do the same.’”
Wilson took her words to heart. Now that she has a larger platform herself, she uses it to help prop up other friends in the music industry.
Lainey Wilson Turns To Miranda Lambert When She Needs A Listening Ear
But Wilson still finds herself in need of some support too. When those times come, she turns to Lambert.
Wilson said that Lambert has “helped [her] through a lot” over the years:
“Sometimes it can be lonely because at times you feel like, man, I don’t even know who I could talk to right now that would understand. Miranda is one of those people for me. She’s helped me through a lot. It’s the life on the road part that’s hard. It’s the early mornings, it’s the late nights. Anybody who has lack of sleep, you’re going to start feeling a little bit off.”
Considering their friendship, it was extra special when Lambert surprised Wilson with the news in 2022 that she won the ACM Award for New Female Artist of the Year. Watch the video to see how Wilson reacted to that news.
We love seeing country artists support each other like Wilson, McBryde, and Lambert do!
