Kelly Clarkson Channels Christmas Classic With “Sisters” Kellyoke Performance
Kelly Clarkson was joined by one of her background singers for a flawless cover of a beloved Christmas classic during Monday’s (December 19) episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Kelly Clarkson and Jessi Collins teamed up during Monday’s Kellyoke segment to perform “Sisters” from the 1954 movie White Christmas.
The song was originally made famous by Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen. The pair portrayed a nightclub sister act, Judy and Betty Haynes, in the beloved film. The sisters catch the eye of famous duo Bob Wallace and Phil Davis, played by Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye.
Clarkson and Collins pulled out all the stops to recreate the famous scene down to the recognizable blue dresses and feather fans. In addition, two male members of Kelly’s band joined them halfway through the cover to recreate one of the film’s most beloved scenes where Kaye and Crosby lip sync to a recording of the sisters singing.
Fun fact…actress Vera Ellen did all of her own dancing, but she didn’t sing. The voice heard singing alongside Rosemary Clooney in the movie belongs to Trudy Stevens. Unlike the movie, Kelly Clarkson and Jessi Collins did their own vocals and did so flawlessly.
“Sisters” is one of many seasonal hits that the American Idol champ has performed in her career. Not only has she covered a number of well-known hits, but the singer has built up a repertoire of original Christmas songs. In 2021, Clarkson released her second holiday album, When Christmas Comes Around… Her first, Wrapped in Red, was released in 2013.
