Keith Urban Teams Up With Fellow “The Voice” Coach For New Duet

British singer Rita Ora recently unveiled a revised rendition of her song “Shape Of Me” featuring country star Keith Urban.

The initial composition of “Shape Of Me” is part of the Ora’s 2023 album, You & I. This updated version, dedicated to her mother, showcases the collaboration with Keith Urban, who is also her fellow coach from The Voice Australia.

The new duet was released on Friday, January 26.

Urban, 56, revealed on social media that he and Ora instantly connected, forging a strong bond.

“Rita and I were coaches together for a couple of seasons on The Voice and clicked immediately. She asked if I’d like to be a part of ‘Shape of Me’ and to no one’s surprise I asked if I could play guitar too…I love how it turned out and am so glad we finally found the right song to collaborate on!”

Infusing Ora’s delivery with a subtle country twang, the updated version comes accompanied by a video featuring snippets from the singer’s family home movies. Reflecting on the song, Ora remarked:

“I put this song out for my mum on her 60th, but it’s also a song that represents someone that you love in your life and anyone that’s helped you along your journey.

I got to know Keith so well when we were shooting The Voice in Australia, all the amazing women he has in his life from his daughters and his wife he’s just such an amazing person, there’s no one else I can imagine doing this with.”

This catchy tune is one that we believe resonates with many people. Urban joins in during the second verse. Check out the lyrics below.

‘Round and ’round I go /

You know I only find the faith right when I hold you /

Yeah, when I hold you /

I get lost in time and space /

I’m just tryna find my place /

So, let me show ya, let me show ya /

Why I lost a part of me /

Trying so hard to please /

I just heard my echo /

Now I’m tryin’ to let go /

When I think of better nights /

With her by my side /

Saying it’s okay though /

Use this sh*t as ammo /

Keith Urban’s Experience As A Coach On The Voice

During his time as a voice coach on The Voice Australia, Keith Urban brought his musical expertise and personable approach, positively impacting aspiring artists. His dynamic mentoring style and connection with contestants showcased his commitment to nurturing talent.

It was first announced in November 2011 that Urban was confirmed as one of the four vocal coaches for the Australian version of the reality singing competition that season.

However, on September 14, 2012, Urban announced that he would not be returning for the second season, and Ricky Martin replaced him.

In a surprising turn, on December 15, 2020, it was revealed that Urban would make a comeback for the tenth season of The Voice Australia, marking his second stint on the show.

He replaced Boy George, joining Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian, and Rita Ora as fellow coaches. All judges, including Urban, returned for the eleventh season in 2022.

Unfortunately, in October 2022, it was once again announced that Urban would not be participating in the twelfth season in 2023 due to his upcoming tour.

“I actually don’t think of it as the end of a chapter at all because I love doing the show,” he told The Sunday Telegraph. “I feel very close to everybody on the set and hopefully the door can stay open because I would jump back in a heartbeat.”
