Jo Dee Messina Mourns Death Of Her Father

Vincent Messina, the father of country star Jo Dee Messina, has died. He was 95.

Jo Dee Messina announced her father’s death on Saturday (January 24) in a post on social media. The “Heads Carolina, Tails California” singer shared a touching video of her dad singing “Daddy’s Little Girl” by Al Martino.

The minute-long clip shows Vincent choking up and fighting back tears as he sings the beautiful lyrics to his daughter.

“You’re the end of the rainbow, my pot of gold
You’re Daddy’s little girl to have and hold
A precious gem is what you are
You’re Mummy’s bright and shining star.”

Text overlay on the clip read, “He got so emotional, and today, I can barely watch this … I love you, Daddy. Give mom a hug for me.”

Jo Dee captioned the clip, saying, “November 28, 1931-January 23, 2026 we lost my Dad last night. It doesn’t matter how old you are, it’s never easy to lose a parent. So much more to his story…”

Jo Dee’s mom, Mary Messina, died in 2020 at the age of 90.

Jo Dee Messina was one of four children born to Mary and Vincent.

Messina credits much of her success to her parents. Her mother, Mary, ran her fan club for many years, even reportedly living next door to the star.

Vincent was a beloved high school basketball coach in Massachusetts and supported his family by working in a car factory.
