IDOL: Will Moseley Delivers Electrifying Cover Of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep”
Will Moseley Brings His Signature Grit To Adele’s Iconic Hit On American Idol
Will Moseley secured a spot in American Idol’s Top 5 by the end of Sunday night’s (May 5) episode, which honored music superstar Adele.
Moseley performed two songs that night: Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Gimme Three Steps” and Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.” As a Southern rock staple, “Gimme Three Steps” was already well-suited to Moseley’s voice and usual vibe.
Viewers previously heard Moseley showcase his powerful voice on songs such as Luke Bryan’s “What Makes You Country” and Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues.” He tends to lean toward songs with that style, so fans were curious to hear what he’d do with “Rolling in the Deep.”
The 23-year-old Georgia native ended up transforming the song into something entirely new. He gave it his signature Will Moseley spin with roaring guitars and gritty vocals.
He also played into the song’s emotions and “drama” with the way he moved and acted onstage. This is something judge Lionel Richie noticed and praised Moseley for after the song ended, saying he was “fantastic.”
The praise didn’t end there. Luke Bryan said, “You nail it every time, buddy,” and told him he did a “great job” with the song. Katy Perry echoed those comments, saying, “You were you while singing a fantastic song, and that’s all we ask.“
Idol Fans React To Will’s Rendition Of “Rolling In The Deep”
Idol viewers also loved Moseley’s unique take on Adele’s iconic hit. Some of the comments on the official video of his performance were:
“Very great song for Will! His voice is so strong!”
“MY HEART IS IN MY THROAT WILL THIS IS AMAZING.”
“Will you slayed that song!!!!!!”
“That rasp gives chills every time.”
“Normally a man singing this song doesn’t work, but Will did a great job.”
“WILL the next American Idol! Hes killed every song! Loved him from the beginning!”
As mentioned earlier, Will Moseley advanced into Idol‘s Top 5 by the end of the episode. His electrifying Adele cover certainly helped him land in that position!
