Erika Kirk Pays Tribute To Late Husband One Month After His Death

Charlie Kirk Was Killed On September 10

While at one of his Turning Point USA events at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, Charlie Kirk was fatally shot. He had just begun his The American Comeback Tour and was about 20 minutes into his event when he was shot in the neck from long range.

Kirk was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, leaving behind his wife, Erika, and their two children under the age of three.

While several reports suggested that Erika and their young children were present at the time of the shooting, this was proven to be false when Erika participated in her first interview following her husband’s death.

She had planned on attending the event, but her mother had a medical procedure that week, so she and their children stayed behind in their home state of Arizona to help take care of her.

Home needs you,” Charlie told her.

Erika was in her mom’s hospital room when Charlie’s assistant called her with the terrible news that he had been shot. She jumped on a plane to get to Orem, but he passed away while she was in the air.

In the interview, Erika said, “I’m looking at the clouds and the mountains. It was such a gorgeous day, and I was thinking: This is exactly what he last saw.”

Charlie’s Life Was Celebrated With A Massive Ceremony

Eleven days after his death, Charlie Kirk’s life was celebrated with a massive public memorial service at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Some highlights of the event were Lee Greenwood’s performance of “God Bless The USA,” Brandon Lake leading worship, and Donald Trump’s speech.

Other speakers at the event included Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Vice President JD Vance.

Erika Kirk also made an emotional speech that encouraged forgiveness.

“That young man. That young man,” Erika whispered referring to the man who shot her husband. “I forgive him.”

She also challenged men to “embrace true manhood,” and encouraged women to embrace their roles as wives and mothers.

Erika Kirk Remembers Charlie One Month After His Death

On October 10, one month after her husband passed away, Erika posted a video montage on her Instagram account to remember Charlie.

The day marked one month without her husband, her best friend, and the father of her children.

She wrote, “There is no linear blueprint for grief. One day you’re collapsed on the floor crying out the name Jesus in between labored breaths. The next you’re playing with your children in the living room, surrounded by family photos, and feeling a rush of something you can only attempt to define as divinely planted and bittersweet joy as a smile breaks through on your face.”

Erika continued, “I carry my Charlie in every breath, in every ache, and in every quiet act of day to day living as I attempt to relearn what that rhythm will be. And what I’ve realized through these past 30 days is the greater the suffering, the purer the love. And I have never loved him more than I do now.”
