Carrie Underwood Performs “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” During Nate Bargatze Special
Comedian Nate Bargatze hosted his Christmas special with special guests Jelly Roll, Darius Rucker, Martina McBride, and Carrie Underwood.
The special aired on December 19 on CBS and was filmed at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee. This was a full-circle moment for the comedian, who grew up in Nashville and whose first job was at Opryland.
His hosting duties on Saturday Night Live in recent years gave him an idea for a variety show that included stand-up comedy, live sketches, pre-recorded bits, and live Christmas music. And so, Nate Bargate’s Nashville Christmas was born.
Carrie Underwood Sang Her “Stretchy Pants” holiday song.
Bargatze invited Underwood on the Opry stage to perform her comical holiday song, “Stretchy Pants.” The song is about, you guessed it, putting stretchy pants on so you can indulge in holiday eating a bit more!
This performance is a bonus clip from the Nashville Christmas special, so you will only find it on YouTube.
Carrie Underwood also performed a Christmas classic.
Bargatze told the audience they had time for one more song. Darius Rucker, who was playing with the house band, suggested that Carrie Underwood help out with the tune.
“It’s not on my Christmas album,” she said referring to their song choice. “But I’ll give it a shot!”
Bargatze told the crowd, “I didn’t know I was gonna duet with Carrie Underwood…”
Confused, Rucker asked him, “You think you’re gonna be singing?”
Underwood added, “I mean, I feel like me and Darius could do the song and you could just have a little break.”
Bargatze replied, “Alright, yeah, that’s probably better. Ladies and gentlemen, Carrie Underwood!”
She began singing “Santa Claus In Coming To Town” with Darius Rucker. It doesn’t get much better – or Nashville – than that!
