Blake Shelton Performs His New Single, “Texas,” Live For The First Time
Blake Shelton Released His First Solo Single in Two Years On November 15
Blake Shelton performed his new single, “Texas,” live for the first time during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
On November 15, Shelton dropped his latest track, “Texas,” marking his return after a two-year break since his last solo release.
The new song comes shortly after the “Ol’ Red” singer signed with a new record label, parting ways with Warner Music Nashville after 23 years.
Although Shelton hasn’t dropped music of his own in a while, he has been featured in a few collaborations over the past year, including “Purple Iris” with his wife, Gwen Stefani, and “Pour Me a Drink” with Post Malone.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Shelton shared that he was motivated to release a new solo song after his collaboration with Post Malone reached #1 on the Country Airplay charts.
“Then that kid came along and asked me to sing on his song with him. It took off and was a big hit this summer, and it reminded me like, ‘Hey, get off your a–! This may be your last chance to really take a big swing at this thing.’ So here I am.”
It seems his decision to release “Texas” was a smart one because it set a new personal record for the most first-week radio adds of his career. A total of 156 radio stations added “Texas” to their rotation in its debut week.
