One Grand Ole Opry member met her all-time favorite artist for the very first time. Another paid tribute to a late legend, not just in music, but also in fashion. And a third country superstar who was booked to perform on Wednesday night wound up conspicuously absent from the stage.
This show was part of the Grand Ole Opry’s year-long 100th birthday celebration, which has been going on throughout 2025 and will continue as the year goes on. Carly Pearce Meets Alison Krauss
Carly Pearce was on hand to tribute Dolly Parton at Opry 100, but backstage at the show, she met another one of her icons for the very first time: Alison Krauss.
After the show, Pearce gushed about the moment on Instagram, saying, “I fangirled so hard to my absolute favorite artist last night & she was everything I hoped she’d be.” She also said that Krauss had been a favorite since she was a kid, and her dad even bought her tickets to see Krauss live for her 16th birthday. Meeting her was a “bucket list moment” that came true backstage at the Opry.

Lainey Wilson Plays Hank Williams’ Guitar — And Doesn’t Wanna Let it Go!
Did you notice anything special about the guitar Lainey Wilson was playing during her Hank Williams tribute with Marty Stuart? That’s right — it was Williams’ own guitar she was playing. Wilson got to perform on the guitar as a last minute surprise for the singer, when Stuart handed it to her onstage.
“I gotta give this thing back?” she joked at the conclusion of the performance.

Jelly Roll was supposed to perform with Ashley McBryde during the Opry TV special, but at the last minute, he stepped out and Post Malone stepped in.
It’s unclear where Jelly was or why he didn’t make it to the show. Taste of Country has reached out to his team for clarification, but hadn’t heard back yet as of Thursday (March 20) afternoon.
