Luke Combs Shares Teaser Of Next Album On 3-Song EP, “The Prequel

Luke Combs Drops The Prequel

Luke Combs has officially released “The Prequel” to his upcoming album.

Combs released his last studio album, Fathers & Sons, in June 2024. He soon started working on his next record, but it isn’t quite ready yet.

However, Combs didn’t want to leave his fans waiting too long to hear new music. So on Tuesday (September 30) he announced his plans to release a three-song EP, The Prequel, on Friday, October 3.

The three songs featured on The Prequel are “My Kinda Saturday Night,” “15 Minutes,” and “Days Like These.”

Combs co-wrote “My Kinda Saturday Night” with Randy Montana and Jonathan Singleton. As you’d expect with that title, “My Kinda Saturday Night” is a fast-paced and rowdy party song.

Combs co-wrote “15 Minutes” with Terry Pendley, Rob Pennington, and Gant Vogel. The emotional song opens with a young man speaking to his mama on the phone to see how she’s been doing.

As the track reaches the chorus, we learn that the narrator is in prison serving a life sentence. So, he treasures the 15 minutes he has to talk to his mama, and doesn’t want to spend much time talking about himself.

Combs served as the sole songwriter on The Prequel‘s third and final track, “Days Like These.” The track is heartfelt and profound, as Combs reflects on the life he’s living.

He finds joy and light in love and life’s simple moments. As he sings, “When the sky is blue and the grass is green. How much better can it be?

When Is Luke Combs’ Next Album Coming Out?

As Luke Combs shared when he announced the release of The Prequel, its songs tease what fans can expect from his upcoming studio album.

While he didn’t share a title or release date for the full-length project, he let fans know they’re aiming for an early 2026 release.

“Still working on my new album that’ll be out early next year,” Combs said, “but 3 songs from it are ready now and I couldn’t wait to get y’all some new music.”

Combs also shared that his next tour will be named after “My Kinda Saturday Night.” He promised to have more information regarding the tour “very soon.”

The release of The Prequel comes shortly after Combs received three CMA Award nominations. He’s up for Single of the Year (with “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma”), Male Vocalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.

Which one of the songs from The Prequel is your favorite?
