Cracker Barrel scraps new logo design, keeps ‘Old Timer’ after listening to customers
After weeks of criticism, Cracker Barrel has announced it will scrap its new logo and keep the familiar “Old Timer” design in place.
Cracker Barrel Listens to Its Customers
On Tuesday, the restaurant chain released a statement saying it heard fans’ concerns.
“We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain,” the company shared with FOX Business.
Cracker Barrel added that it has always been about delicious food, warm welcomes, and country hospitality that feels like family.
The chain also highlighted its 70,000 employees, calling them the heart of the brand and promising to continue providing the same Southern comfort experience customers expect.
Why the New Logo Sparked Backlash
Earlier this month, Cracker Barrel introduced a revamped text-only logo, dropping the iconic image of Uncle Herschel sitting by a barrel. The new look aimed for simplicity, but it quickly sparked outrage among loyal fans.
Many customers said the updated branding felt “too plain” and disconnected from the company’s roots. The backlash even contributed to a dip in the company’s stock price.
A Look Back at Cracker Barrel’s Logo History
Cracker Barrel’s original 1969 logo was also text-only. However, in 1977, the now-iconic image of Uncle Herschel was added. Over the years, that visual became a central part of the brand’s identity.
For many fans, removing it felt like erasing decades of tradition and nostalgia.
Cracker Barrel Moves Forward With Familiar Branding
With the decision to keep its classic Old Timer logo, Cracker Barrel hopes to mend relationships with its loyal base. The company emphasized that while design trends may come and go, its values of hospitality, family, and Southern cooking will remain unchanged.
The move marks a rare instance of a national chain reversing a rebrand after public outcry, proving just how powerful customer voices can be.
