
Bus carrying football team crashes near Pittsburgh; at least 21 students hospitalized
The Aliquippa Jr. High School football team experienced a frightening bus crash on Saturday morning. Parents, school leaders, and the community quickly stepped in to support the players.
What Happened in the Aliquippa Bus Crash?
A parent told KDKA-TV’s Jessica Riley that the team rode on the bus when the accident occurred. The team’s official Facebook page reported that the players left the scene around 11 a.m. Soon after, medical teams began evaluating each student.
Students and Injuries Reported
The bus carried 28 people in total. Among them, 25 were students. Paramedics rushed 21 students and the bus driver to the hospital for treatment. At this point, doctors have not shared their conditions.
Two other adults also rode on the bus but escaped without injury.
School and Community Response
The Aliquippa superintendent went to the hospital to check on the players and their families. School officials continue to monitor the situation closely while families wait for updates.
Governor Josh Shapiro’s Statement
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro responded on Saturday afternoon. He spoke directly with Aliquippa Mayor Dwan Walker and promised full state support during the investigation.
“Football brings the Aliquippa community together,” Gov. Shapiro said. “Please join Lori and me in praying for the team, their parents, their coaches, and everyone standing behind them.”
