Miranda Lambert Honors Her Friend’s Late Father During Recent Concert

On Friday, July 11, Miranda Lambert opened for Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem Tour at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

But what many people in attendance might not have noticed was that part of her outfit held a very special meaning.

The “Wranglers” singer later took to social media to share that the belt she wore on stage once belonged to her bandmate’s late father.

“My friend and background vocalist @gwensebastian recently lost her dad,” Lambert wrote in the caption. “Last night I forgot my belt, and she told me that she had just happened to pack an extra…it was her father’s and had his name on it.”

What started as a forgotten wardrobe piece became such a meaningful tribute. In her post, she shared several photos and videos of herself wearing the belt during the performance in front of thousands of fans. The belt had the name “Gerald” embroidered on it.

“What an an honor to wear that last night in Miami. Love you Gwennie!!” Lambert added.

Sebastian later commented on Lambert’s post, saying, “He was up there pickin’ and singing along. Love you, my friend.”

According to an obituary, Gerald had passed away in February 2025 at the age of 76.

It was recently revealed that Miranda Lambert is hosting a benefit concert to support those affected by the devastating Texas floods.

On Monday, July 14, Lambert shared the news during a phone interview with SiriusXM’s Highway Morning Show host Cody Alan.

The Texas native didn’t share too many details since it’s still early in the planning process, but she did say that something is definitely in the works and will be coming soon.

“But I know more than anything that Texans help Texans,” Lambert said. “I’m working on more things to come, hopefully next week [I’ll] announce some things I’m trying to do to help.”
