Ella Langley has reached a historic milestone: her hit song “Choosin’ Texas” has now spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, setting a new record for the most weeks ever spent at the top of the chart. The achievement surpasses the 22-week reign of Mariah Carey’s holiday classic, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
The Alabama-born country singer shared the news in an emotional Instagram video, thanking fans for turning the song into a life-changing success.
How Ella Langley Set the Record
“Choosin’ Texas” first reached No. 1 in February 2026. Although it traded places with other major hits throughout the spring, the song returned to the summit in late June and has remained there for 14 consecutive weeks.
With its 24th week at No. 1 on the October 3 Billboard Hot 100 chart, Langley extended the all-time record. The song’s previous 23-week total had already pushed it past Carey’s 22-week record with “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

Ella Langley’s Emotional Reaction
Langley admitted that she was struggling to find the right words after learning about the record.
“I’m genuinely trying to find the words to help explain what’s going on in my brain today,” she said in the video. “Thank you so much for loving this song, for listening to it… I’m running out of hyperboles to describe how I feel.”
She continued by thanking listeners for supporting not only her, but also the song’s writers, her family, and the future of her career.
“It’s changing my life, it’s changing the lives of the writers of this song,” Langley said. “It’s changing the lives of my family, and it is truly growing an atmosphere for something I’m gonna be able to do the rest of my life.”
Facing Criticism in the Spotlight
The record-breaking moment comes after a difficult year for Langley, who has faced intense online criticism about her appearance, speech, wardrobe, voice, and songwriting.
During a recent show at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio, Langley paused to address the scrutiny directly. She admitted that the criticism initially affected her confidence and made her question whether she could handle fame.
Her perspective changed when she thought about her younger self: the artist who spent years touring in a 15-passenger van and later a Honda Accord, surviving on bar food and tip-jar money while chasing her dream. Langley said she now feels proud of that version of herself and the work it took to get here.
A Viral Moment in Knoxville
Langley also made headlines after a fan shouted through a fence outside her September 24 concert in Knoxville, Tennessee, asking how many likes it would take to get a date.
Her blunt response went viral and sparked mixed reactions online. Langley later explained that she intended the comment as dark humor, but acknowledged that it did not land the way she expected.
Despite ongoing debate about how she handles fame, Langley’s focus remains on the music. For now, she and her team are celebrating a milestone that very few artists ever achieve.
