Jamar Goff, the 23-year-old foster son of The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond, was arrested in Birmingham, Alabama, on serious charges including drug possession and assaulting a police officer.
Goff’s arrest occurred in the early hours of September 15, when University of Alabama Birmingham Campus police took him into custody. He was subsequently booked into the Jefferson County Jail, where his bond has been set at $37,000. As of Thursday morning, September 24, Goff remains in custody.
Details Surrounding the Arrest
According to court documents, police responded to a report of a suspicious individual on campus, discovering Goff shirtless and asleep near a fountain. Upon questioning, Goff allegedly told officers he was waiting to purchase “ice,” a term commonly used for methamphetamine. Although initially encouraged to leave, police later found an outstanding warrant for his arrest, prompting them to attempt to apprehend him.
During the confrontation, Goff reportedly fled and used an open-handed palm strike on an officer. A subsequent search uncovered a glass pipe and approximately 1.8 grams of methamphetamine on him.

Goff has been part of the Drummond family since 2018, when he joined them at the age of 16. He developed a close bond with Drummond’s sons, Bryce and Todd, primarily through football. Ree Drummond wrote in her book Frontier Follies that fostering Goff was a decision made out of compassion for his circumstances. Following an ATV accident that severely injured his foot, Goff’s ties to the family grew stronger.
In 2021, he began a college football career at the University of Central Oklahoma, with Drummond expressing pride in his accomplishments and gratitude for the support he received from friends and coaches.
Goff’s legal issues are not isolated; he faced prior allegations in May 2025 for biting a detention officer’s hand. At that time, he identified Drummond as his “foster parent” in court documents. His brother, Bryce Drummond, encountered his own legal challenges in 2024, facing charges related to driving under the influence.
