‘Yellowstone’ Creator Taylor Sheridan To Build Texas’ Largest Film And TV Studio

Taylor Sheridan, the Texas-based creator of Yellowstone, 1923, Tulsa King, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, and the upcoming Landman, is preparing for his biggest project yet. He is teaming up with Paramount to build what could become the largest film and TV studio in Texas.

A Massive Production Campus in Fort Worth

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new studio will be located in Fort Worth’s Alliance area. The campus spans over 450,000 square feet and will feature:

  • State-of-the-art sound stages

  • Modern production offices

  • Post-production facilities

  • Space for multiple ongoing projects

The facility will operate under Sheridan’s company, SGS Studios, in partnership with Paramount Television and real estate developer Hillwood.

Sheridan’s Vision for Texas Filmmaking

In a statement, Sheridan emphasized that the project is about more than just infrastructure.

“SGS Studios isn’t just about sound stages or incentives — it’s about reclaiming the independence and grit that built this industry in the first place. Texas offers something rare: the space to dream big, the freedom to build fast, and a community that still believes storytelling matters.”

The studio will have the capacity to support four major productions at once. Some shows, including Landman and Special Ops: Lioness, are already being filmed there.

Hollywood Comes to Texas

Texas has been actively working to attract film and television projects. Earlier this summer, the state increased its film incentive funding by $100 million, bringing the total to $300 million every two years. With funding secured through 2035, the program could provide up to $1.5 billion in grants over the next decade.

Industry leaders believe this move positions Texas as a new global hub for entertainment. Mike Berry, president of Hillwood, stated:

“We are at a pivotal moment where Texas can become a global force in the film industry. North Texas has the resources, the workforce, and the vision to play a central role in this growth.”

Fort Worth’s Growing Film Industry

For more than a decade, the Fort Worth Film Commission has worked to strengthen the city’s presence in media. So far, it has supported over 1,000 productions, creating more than $700 million in economic impact.

City officials expect the new partnership to bring even more opportunities. Council member Alan Blaylock said:

“As the largest operating studio facility in Texas, this project will create quality jobs, attract talent, and support local businesses. It will showcase Fort Worth as a premier destination for media production.”
