Big names such as Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and Lynyrd Skynyrd are in discussions to perform at next year’s event.
WILDWOOD, NJ — The Barefoot Country Music Fest was postponed because of the new coronavirus. The concert on the beach — slated for June 19-21 this summer — is now scheduled for June 18-20, 2021.
The festival will also hold a Thursday Night Concert Kick-Off Party on June 17, 2021, honoring health-care workers and other frontline employees. BCMF will donate 500 festival tickets to health-care personnel and other essential workers in the fight against COVID-19.
Current ticket holders can roll over their purchase for the 2012 concert or donate their ticket(s) to COVID-19 frontline workers.
The festival attracted major names such as Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Dan + Shay and Lynyrd Skynyrd. They are in discussions to perform at next year’s event. The BCMF 2021 lineup will be announced in the coming months.
“While we are disappointed that the Barefoot Country Music Fest had to be postponed this summer,” said Wildwood Mayor Pete Byron, “we greatly appreciate all of the hard work and effort that went into planning the festival. We look forward to an even bigger and better festival in 2021.”
Organizers originally hoped to reschedule the concert for later this year. But that became increasingly challenging because of the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus.
New Jersey has reported 102,196 cases and 5,617 total deaths from the virus as of Friday. The United States coronavirus death toll surpassed 50,000, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
“We’re heartbroken over what’s happening throughout the country and disappointed BCMF will not happen in 2020,” said Rob Pedlow of BCMF, “but felt it was the best decision to protect the health and safety of fans, the Wildwood community, artists and BCMF staff.”
