Kelly Clarkson Postpones Las Vegas Shows Due to Ex-Husband’s Illness
Kelly Clarkson has announced she is postponing the remaining August dates of her Las Vegas residency, Studio Sessions, to focus on her family.
On Wednesday, August 6, the Grammy-winning singer shared an emotional statement:
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas. While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
She also expressed her gratitude to fans, adding:
“I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows, and I so appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding.”
The postponed dates include August 8, 9, 16, and 17. New dates have not yet been announced, but Clarkson’s use of the word postpone—rather than cancel—offers hope for future rescheduling.

Who Is Brandon Blackstock?
Clarkson’s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, is a music manager who was previously best known for his marriage to the superstar.
The pair first crossed paths in 2006 at an ACM Awards rehearsal, where Blackstock was working as tour manager for Rascal Flatts. At the time, he was married to his first wife, Melissa Ashworth, with whom he shares two children—Savannah and Seth.
They met again in 2012 at the Super Bowl, when Clarkson sang the National Anthem and Blackstock was managing Blake Shelton. This time, both were single. Just days later, they went on their first date, got engaged ten months later, and married on October 20, 2013.
Family Life
The couple welcomed two children together—daughter River Rose in 2014 and son Remington Alexander in 2016. They lived in Nashville before relocating to Los Angeles for Clarkson’s commitments to The Voice and The Kelly Clarkson Show.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, the family quarantined at their ranch in Montana. Clarkson often praised Brandon for helping with her talk show and The Voice production during lockdown.
However, in June 2020, Clarkson filed for divorce, leading to a lengthy legal battle over custody, support, and business disputes. Their divorce was finalized in 2022, with legal matters continuing until 2024.
Brandon’s Music Industry Ties
Brandon’s father, Narvel Blackstock, was married to country legend Reba McEntire for 26 years. Reba, one of Clarkson’s musical idols, became her stepmother-in-law and a grandmother figure to her children.
Even after Clarkson’s divorce from Brandon, she and Reba have maintained a close friendship and mutual respect.
A Difficult but Hopeful Pause
Kelly Clarkson’s decision to step away from the stage this month highlights her commitment to family during a challenging time. Fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on the rescheduled Studio Sessions dates and continue to show their support for the beloved singer.
