WATCH: Lainey Wilson Thrills Nashville Audience With Surprise Ella Langley Duet
Lainey Wilson Brings Her Whirlwind World Tour To Nashville
Lainey Wilson‘s Nashville crowd got a once-in-a-lifetime surprise when she called one of her famous friends onstage for a duet…that friend being Ella Langley.
Wilson is currently traveling around the globe on her Whirlwind World Tour. So far, she’s been to cities such as London (England), Paris (France), Denver (Colorado), Bend (Oregon), and Clarkston (Michigan).
The trek supports her 2024 album Whirlwind, which features songs such as “4x4xU,” “Hang Tight Honey,” and “Good Horses.” The latter song is a duet with Wilson’s dear friend and mentor, Miranda Lambert.
Wilson released a deluxe edition of Whirlwind on August 22. It features five new songs, including her current single, “Somewhere Over Laredo.”
The whimsical song was inspired by the beloved classic “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz. Its accompanying music video is equally dreamy and magical, and shows Wilson riding on a horse through a colorful desert landscape.
Ella Langley Takes Miranda Lambert’s Place To Sing “Good Horses” With Lainey Wilson
As you can see, horses come up a lot in Lainey Wilson’s work (she also has a song called “Wildflowers and Wild Horses.”) A love for horses is a passion she shares with Miranda Lambert, which is why it made perfect sense that they got together to write and record “Good Horses.”
While Lambert has performed “Good Horses” live with Wilson before, she understandably can’t attend every one of her shows. But Wilson still wanted to share the song with her audience in Nashville on Thursday (October 2), so she enlisted Ella Langley to sing Lambert’s part.
The audience was completely unaware that the “you look like you love me” singer was in the house. So when Wilson asked everyone to welcome Langley to the stage, the crowd went wild!

Wilson and Langley looked like they were having the time of their lives singing “Good Horses” together onstage. It was heartwarming to see them together, as they’re currently two of the leading female stars in country music.
Langley and Wilson tied with Megan Moroney for the highest number of nominations at this year’s CMA Awards, with six each.
Wilson has spoken fondly about Langley in the past, telling Country Nights Live in August 2025:
“…I love Ella and she is like a sister, and I just see her and I think she’s one of the most talented people in this business, and so it’s important for me to check in on her and just be there for her if she needs me.”
That sisterly bond was obvious when Wilson and Langley sang “Good Horses” together in Nashville. Watch more videos of their epic surprise duet below!
