Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley reunited at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena Wednesday night during Underwood’s adopted hometown stop on her 43-city arena tour, THE DENIM & RHINESTONES TOUR.
The tour continues through March 17, and the Nashville show was a homecoming in more ways than one. For most of Underwood and Paisley’s careers, they shared a label home at Sony Nashville. But Underwood shifted labels to UMG Music Group within the last few years, and Paisley recently followed suit. The pair have been frequent collaborators over the years, most notably co-hosting the CMA Awards at Bridgestone Arena for more than a decade and their country smash “Remind Me.”
The two even delivered one of their famous spoofs, with Underwood singing: “You’re funnier than Luke.” Paisley followed with: “You’re prettier than Peyton.”
The dig at the most recent CMA Awards hosts kicked off on social media with the hashtag #paisleywood, with fans chiming in on how much they enjoy the pair of friends performing together. The song title: “Paisleywood.”
Fan hannahmward11 wrote: “Dude i started CRYING when i saw Brad Paisley. Completely healed my inner child.”
Paisley’s wife Kimberly Williams Paisley said: “BRING IT PAISLEYWOOD! ❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻”
Another fan, estephaniiaa_ commented: “Damn this is why Nashville is the place to be for country concerts 😭”
And another hanna_bycenski said: “Paisleywood back together again!!! all is right in the world.”
Paisley wasn’t Underwood’s only surprise guest. Jason Aldean was there, too, to sing their chart-topping hit “If I Didn’t Love You.”
Thursday morning, Underwood said she was still “processing last night in Nashville.”
“The hometown crowd was INSANE!!!” she said. “And I am so grateful that @bradpaisley and @jasonaldean came out to make it extra special! It was truly a night I will never forget! THANK YOU MUSIC CITY!!! #DenimAndRhinestonesTour #Paisleywood #Nashville 📸: @jeffjohnsonimages
Aldean and Paisley both chimed in on the post.
Aldean said: “Thanks for having me out @carrieunderwood . The show was🔥.”
True to form, Paisley quipped: “Thanks again for the rhinestone underoos! #paisleywood”
Jimmie Allen was also there. He’s provided tour support for Underwood’s entire DENIM AND RHINESTONES TOUR. He returned to the stage during Underwood’s set to duet on “Denim and Rhinestones” and for a light-hearted dance break.
The show was sold out, and Underwood performed for more than two hours.
Her upcoming tour stops include Ohio, Texas, Arizona, the Pacific Northwest, and L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena.
