Vegas Music Legends

George Strait

This week, we switch genres, going from comedy to music. One act is legendary, the other pays tribute to legends from the 1950s and ‘60s.

George Strait

This recording artist has more No. 1 hits in any music genre than anyone in history, more than Elvis, Madonna and the Beatles. George Strait has 60 certified No. 1 hits.

The country music legend is in the fifth year of his residency at T-Mobile Arena. He kicked off 2020 with a new tour last week as he performed his “Strait To Vegas” shows.

This tour will see several different opening bands such as Stapleton, Little Big Town, and Caitlyn Smith. The musically diverse, country-rooted, Gone West warmed up the friendly crowd on these particular dates (Jan. 31-Feb. 1). The band consists of Colbie Caillat, Nelly Joy, Jason Reeves, and Justin Kawika Young.

At 9:15 sharp, with his own all-star group of musicians, the Ace in the Hole band playing, Strait was announced and walked the floor of the arena with his patented black hat to thunderous applause.

Strait has the square stage laid out in the middle of the floor with giant screens above at all sides. The King of Country Music opened the show with his hit, “Stars on the Water” then addressed the audience. He thanked everyone, told about his love of Vegas, and even sparked excitement for the upcoming Super Bowl.

Every two songs he advanced to a different corner of the stage as the crowd sang along as if they were backup singers. Over his 33-year career, many of his songs are about love of country, God, our troops and first responders, and of course, about love. Several of his tributes are paying homage to icons like Merle Haggard, who he states paved the way for him and many others.

One thing that’s certainly unique about Strait is his passion and respect for those who have served this country. Midway through each show, he stops and retires in the background while representatives from his Military Support Foundation takes the foreground. The charity provides support for our nation’s combat wounded veterans and their families as they transition out of the military and into their new civilian life. A house is awarded to a new family every show.

This past year, they raised over $19 million and over the years have given away over 880 homes valued at over $200 million and is said to have saved over 100 lives, all at a three percent overhead. After the house is awarded, the show resumes.

With as many hits as the superstar has in his repertoire, it seems like each song is more popular than the last. It is because of this that he changes the set list regularly.

One thing for sure, George Strait is one of the most exciting and talented musicians in the world. Whether you are born a country music fan or not, it doesn’t matter as George will turn you into one.

He returns to the T-Mobile Arena August 28-29. This is a perfect reason to plan your next trip to Las Vegas.

You don’t have to travel to New York City to experience it. There’s a bit of the Bronx right here in the middle of the desert.

Launched in 2006, basically as a whim by gold-record producer and label executive Vinny Adinolfi, the Bronx Wanderers have become something of a sensation.

Touring the world with some incredible musicians, including his sons, the patriarch of the family takes you on a flashback experience of the greatest music throughout the 1950’s, ‘60s, and ‘70s right up to present day.

Not only are these guys talented, but they have a charm and charisma that brings a feeling of intimacy to the audience, the likes of which are unrivaled today. From Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons to Dion and the Belmonts, no one does it better than the Bronx Wanderers.

Sharing a stage with sons Vinny Jr. and Nicky gives Vinny Sr. tons of memories and material to keep the crowd feeling nostalgic and in stitches. Afterwards, they come out to chat and take photos with all their fans.

Go see the show that famed musician Tony Orlando says,” I honestly feel part of their family and you will too. One of my favorite shows of all time.”

Having just inked a new residency at Harrah’s Las Vegas, there are dates available in February, March, April, and June. I can’t get enough of the Bronx Wanderers and you won’t either. A must see.
