Todd & Julie Chrisley Granted Full Pardons From President Trump

President Donald Trump has officially pardoned reality television stars Todd and Julie Chrisley.

Todd and Julie Chrisley have been released from prison.

Todd Chrisley’s attorney, Alex Little, told media Wednesday evening that Todd had been released from where he was incarcerated in Pensacola, Florida, and was on his way home to Nashville. Little’s office added that Julie was released from prison in Lexington, Kentucky, and was also en route to Nashville.

Prior to their release, their daughter Savannah, 27, met with reporters outside of Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola where she was dressed in a pink Make America Great Again Hat and a matching Trump jacket. She told press that she was there to pick up her dad and that her brother, Grayson, was picking up their mom in Kentucky.

“Honestly, this process has been absolutely insane, and I am so grateful that I’m going to leave here with my dad,” she said, adding that the news of her parents’ pardon “literally came out of nowhere.”

“I was in such shock and awe that the president himself took the time to tell me my family is coming back together,” she said.

ORIGINAL STORY:

In November 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley, longtime stars of the reality TV series Chrisley Knows Best, were sentenced on alleged fraud and tax evasion charges. The couple reported to prison in January 2023 and have been appealing their case ever since.

On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, President Donald Trump shared a video to X of him placing a phone call to Todd and Julie’s daughter, Savannah, letting her know that he was granting them a pardon.

“Your parents are going to be free and clean, and I’m hoping we can do it by tomorrow. Is that okay?” Trump asked Savannah, who was clearly moved by the announcement. He added, “I don’t know them, but give them my regards. I wish them a good life.”

Later in the call, when Todd and Julie’s son Chase thanked the President for “bringing my parents back,” Trump replied, “Well, they were given a pretty harsh treatment based on what I’m hearing.”

Todd & Julie Chrisley’s Charges Explained

In 2019, charges were filed against the celebrity couple for bank fraud and tax evasion. A federal Grand jury indicted them on 12 counts of conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and tax evasion.

U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan said that the couple “defrauded banks out of tens of millions of dollars while evading payment of their federal income taxes.”

“The Chrisleys defrauded financial institutions and the Federal Government through tax evasion and other fraudulent means in an effort to minimize their tax liability, but project an image of wealth,” said James E. Dorsey, Special Agent in Charge, IRS Criminal Investigation, Atlanta Field Office.

Buchanan added that the couple and a former business partner submitted false bank statements and other documents to community banks in order to secure more than $36 million in personal loans. They allegedly spent the money on luxury items in an attempt to portray wealth. They reportedly obtained new fraudulent loans to repay the old ones, and were eventually forced to file for bankruptcy. The court estimated that the Chrisley’s were able to “walk away” from more than $20 million of loans.

In addition, the couple reportedly didn’t file taxes for four years.

After the charges were made public, Todd addressed the allegations, saying that the evidence presented to the jury contained documents forged by a former employee.

“It all started back in 2012, when we discovered that a trusted employee of ours had been stealing from us big time,” he wrote, adding that the employee created fake documents, forged their signatures, and threatened other employees if they spoke out.

Todd went on to defend himself and his wife, saying that they have nothing to hide or be ashamed of.

“Not only do we know we’ve done nothing wrong, but we’ve got a ton of hard evidence and a bunch of corroborating witnesses that proves it,” Chrisley said.

The Chrisleys’ Sentencing and Incarceration

During their sentencing, the jury felt that there was enough irrefutable evidence to convict Todd and Julie.

Todd, who was 53 at the time, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, tax fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Julie, 49 at the time of her sentencing, was convicted of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, tax fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. She also received wire fraud and obstruction of justice charges.

Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison, and Julie was sentenced to seven.

Todd and Julie reported to prison in January of 2023. Todd was sent to Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola, Florida, and Julie was serving her time at Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Julie was initially scheduled to be released on January 8, 2028, while Todd would have served until 2032.
