Tina Knowles ‘Couldn’t Believe’ Beyoncé Won Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammys: ‘I Was Just Not Expecting It’

Tina Knowles is prouder than ever of her daughter Beyoncé.

The fashion designer, 71, reacted to the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer’s historic wins at the 2025 Grammy Awards in a preview clip of The Jennifer Hudson Show set to be aired on Monday, Feb. 24.

While promoting her upcoming memoir, Matriarch, Tina confessed she was “screaming” when it was announced that Beyoncé had won album of the year for her country album Cowboy Carter at the Feb. 2, ceremony. The singer — who holds the record for the most Grammy wins of any artist in history — now boasts 35 wins and 99 nominations.

“I was at her house and I was there to help [her] and Blue get ready,” Tina told Hudson. “I was just not expecting it, I was really, really shocked,” she said of the moment Beyoncé’s win was announced.

“I was sitting there with my granddaughter Rumi and my grandson Sir and for a second, we were just sitting there,” she continued.

Tina revealed she didn’t register the win properly until the camera showed the “Single Ladies” singer’s shocked expression, which went viral on social media.

“I couldn’t believe it because there’s been so many times that I thought that would happen and it didn’t,” she told Hudson.

Tina also joked about granddaughter Blue Ivy nudging her famous mom to stand up, poking fun at how the 13-year-old acts like a “manager” to her parents.

“It was funny because then they show Blue… and Beyoncé is sitting like this,” Tina said, recreating her daughter’s openmouthed expression. “And Blue is saying ‘get up’ as she walked on the stage, so they call her the manager.”

“She’s a bossy little Capricorn like her grandma,” she joked.

Hudson also brought up the moment Alicia Keys gave her other daughter Solange, 38, a shout-out for her work as a female producer while receiving the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the Grammys.

The talk show host told Tina that her “whole family is talented” before praising both daughters for making her proud.

“I’m proud of Solange always,” Tina replied. “Solange is such an artist, you know, she’s really an artist.”

“And I’m proud of Kelly too, I’ve got to bring it up because that’s my other baby,” she said, referring to Kelly Rowland.
