Tim McGraw Cancels Upcoming Performance As He Recovers From Back Surgery
Tim McGraw Backs Out Of Colorado Concert Following Recent Back Surgery
Country music superstar Tim McGraw was forced to cancel one of his upcoming performances as he recovers from back surgery.
McGraw was supposed to perform at the Professional Bull Riders Last Cowboy Standing event in Colorado on July 21. However, on Monday (June 23), PBR CEO Sean Gleason announced on social media that McGraw was forced to cancel his appearance.
The country-rock band Cross Canadian Ragweed will take his place. Grand Ole Opry member Jon Pardi will still perform as scheduled the following day, June 22.
Gleason shared that McGraw dropped out of the performance because he’s still recovering from back surgery:
“Cross Canadian Ragweed will step in for Tim McGraw as he recovers from back surgery to open the Last Cowboy Standing Show on July 21 in Fort Collins — and we couldn’t be more thrilled.“

A more detailed statement from the PBR and Colorado State University revealed that fans who hoped to see McGraw can obtain a full refund. Ticketholders seeking a refund can call the Rams Ticket Office at 970-491-7267 or fill out the refund request form here.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to fans who wanted to see Tim McGraw, and we wish Tim the very best in his recovery,” the statement read.
In May, McGraw Delivered His First Live Performance In Nearly A Year, And Was Joined Onstage By His Daughters
The PBR’s statement shares that McGraw’s back surgery was “recent,” but did not provide an exact date. McGraw has been open about his health struggles in interviews, telling The Bobby Bones Show in May that he’s undergone double-knee surgery and three back surgeries in the past few months.
McGraw shared that just as he started recovering from his knee surgeries, his “back went out again and [he] had to have another back surgery.”
Also in May, McGraw shared a health update on Tracy Lawrence’s TL’s Road House podcast. He said all of his recent operations made him question if his days as a live performer are over.
“I can tell you that after double knee replacements and three back surgeries and now a torn rotator cuff and a ruptured disc, all the things that are going on, there were times this year that I thought this might be it. This might be time to hang it up.”
McGraw has taken some time off from performing to focus on his health. On May 31, he delivered his first live performance in nearly a year at the inaugural Music City Rodeo in Nashville.
The “Humble and Kind” singer made his performance extra meaningful by inviting his three daughters to join him onstage. The girls, who are all talented vocalists, joined him to sing “Last Dollar (Fly Away).” McGraw released the track as a single in 2007, and his daughters sang the final chorus on the recording.
Knowing that history, Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey got emotional after singing “Last Dollar” onstage with their dad now, as adults. You can watch a clip of their sweet performance below.
