Reba McEntire’s Mama Once Made A Hilarious Appearance On Her “Reba” Sitcom
Reba McEntire Remembers Her Late Mama, Jacqueline McEntire
Reba McEntire and her mama, Jacqueline, were incredibly close. Jacqueline always supported Reba throughout her career in singing, acting, or anything else she pursued.
In 2019, Reba included an ode to her mama on her album Stronger Than the Truth. The song, titled “You Never Gave Up On Me,” recognizes Jacqueline as the rock Reba could always lean on.
It goes, “…you never gave up on me. I’m here where I was always meant to be. I never gave up, ’cause you, never gave up on me.”
Sadly, Jacqueline died on March 14, 2020, at the age of 92. Reba shared the heartbreaking news in a post on social media:
“Our Mother, Jacqueline McEntire, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven today,” she wrote. “She had a wonderful, full, healthy life and was absolutely ready to go. The cancer might think it won the battle but we’re giving God all the credit on selecting the time for her to go home to Him. She was ready to see our Daddy, her mama and daddy and all her family and friends.“
Reba released another song honoring her mom in 2023 called “Seven Minutes in Heaven.” The emotional track has Reba singing about the special person she’d visit in heaven if she only had seven minutes there. Of course, that person is her mama, Jacqueline.
The song’s official music video is also a tearjerker. It resonated with fans who’ve lost their own loved ones and has been watched over 2.6 million times since it was posted in October 2023.
Do You Remember When Jacqueline Appeared On The Reba Show?
Now that her mama is gone, Reba finds comfort in looking back on the fun and happy memories they shared. They made one of those memories on the set of her Reba sitcom when Jacqueline made a brief but hilarious cameo in one episode.
The cameo occurred during Season 4, Episode 17, called “The Pageant of Grandmas.” Reba and Barbara Jean (played by Melissa Peterman) entered a pageant for grandmas, but since they were both “Grandma Hart,” only one of them could compete.
Eventually, Reba tells Barbara Jean to go onstage because she knows how much the pageant means to her. As Barbara Jean leaves, Reba runs into another grandma named Lauren, played by her mama, Jacqueline.
Reba asks her, “Just between us grandmas, I am hotter looking than she is, right?“
In a hysterical moment, Lauren (Reba’s mama) looks in Barbara Jean’s direction, then back at Reba, before shaking her head, “No.”
Reba recently reshared the clip of Jacqueline’s cameo appearance on Instagram. “I still get a kick out of this!” she wrote in the caption.
