Police investigating sale of fake George Strait concert tickets

A Salina man is out $230 after allegedly being scammed online for a concert ticket purchase.

Salina Police Detective Sergeant David Villanueva said this morning that the 51-year-old man on Friday afternoon purchased what he thought were two tickets to that night’s George Strait concert in Wichita. He told police he purchased the computer-printed tickets from someone on Salina Buy, Sell, Trade, Villanueva said.

When the man got to the concert and the tickets were scanned, he was told those tickets had already been used, Villanueva said. The man then had to purchase two other tickets to see the concert, he added.

Villanueva said it was yet to be determined whether the person who sold the man the tickets was aware the tickets were fraudulent.
