Ah, the Grammy Awards! Each year, we look forward to the star-studded event almost as much as we look forward to the CMAs. It’s a chance to see all of our favorites in one place, from Blake Shelton to Dan + Shay.
That’s why we were particularly disappointed to notice the absence of one such singer last night: Miranda Lambert. The 36-year-old didn’t stop by the red carpet—nor does it appear she attended the event at all.
It’s definitely surprising, given that the country star was in the running for not one, but two awards. Her hit song “It All Comes Out in the Wash” was up for Best Country Song, and she was also nominated for Best Country Album for Pistol Annies’ 2018 record, Interstate Gospel. So what gives?
Many speculated that she might have had a hard time watching her ex-husband Blake Shelton and his girlfriend Gwen Stefani take the stage to belt out their romantic duet, “Nobody But You.”

But considering how they got along at the CMA Awards, odds are Miranda wasn’t thinking about Blake and Gwen at all. As a tweet from Pistol Annie’s confirmed, the “Got My Name Changed Back” singer is currently traveling all over the country as part of her “Wildcard” tour.
We’ve got an Annie on the road and an Annie down but I speak for all of us when I say that we want to thank our husbands and ex husbands and our kids and our dogs and beer and fast moving trains and everything else that inspires us to write country songs. pic.twitter.com/T7CDZMkFi9

What’s more, she was busy celebrating her first anniversary with husband Brendan McLoughlin this past Sunday. She posted a photo of the two of them on Instagram to mark the occasion.
“I’m so happy to walk through this life with you,” she captioned the sweet post. “Thank you Brendan for making me the proudest wife and stepmom. You are the reason for all my new smile lines. I love you. #MrsMcLoughlin”
As far as excuses go, those are two pretty solid ones. Happy anniversary, Miranda and Brendan!
And don’t forget to share this story with your family and friends.
