Miranda Lambert experienced some rough times after her divorce from Blake Shelton in 2015. Following her nomination for Best Country Song at the 2020 Grammys, Lambert admitted that she was a total “s—t show” in the wake of her divorce. The couple parted ways in the summer of 2015 after four years of marriage.
Miranda Lambert dishes on her divorce
Shelton and Lambert were arguably country music’s hottest couple when they tied the knot in 2011. But their marriage only lasted four years and in July of 2015, the pair released a joint statement confirming their split.
According to Us Magazine, Lambert opened up about her breakup during a concert in Nashville, Tennessee on January 25. The country singer revealed that she experienced dark times after her marriage fell apart.
“I feel like Nashville is somewhere where you can go if you need to be a dreamer and not be judged about it. I spent a lot of time here on highs and lows … I went through a really hard time in my life,” Lambert explained. “I moved here in 2015 in the middle of a s–t show, but I was lifted up by people who were like, ‘We got you, girl.’ My friends and my songwriters and my fans and everybody here.”

Miranda Lambert went on to praise her fellow band members, Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe, for always being there for her. She also referenced her new husband, Brendan McLoughlin, whom she married early last year.
Lambert’s band, Pistol Annies, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Country Album for their latest offering, Interstate Gospel. Although Lambert was also in the running for Best Country Song for her track, “It All Come Out in the Wash,” she did not make an appearance at the award ceremony.
How did Lambert get through her divorce from Shelton?
Aside from the support of her friends in Nashville, Lambert’s music helped her deal with her divorce from Shelton.
Miranda Lambert explained how her album, The Weight of These Wings, gave her an outlet to process the emotions she felt from the divorce. While she could have bottled things up, she used her music to be “brutally honest” about what she was experiencing.
“I was going through a very public divorce, and I wasn’t going to shy away from that,” she shared. “I could have done something shiny and covered it up, but that wouldn’t have been honest. I’ve always been brutally honest about myself. I couldn’t start hiding things at that point.”

The country star added that she did not set out to write an emotional album. But when she got into the studio, she could not help but write what was on her mind.
These days, Lambert has moved on from the heartache she experienced and her latest album features a lot more upbeat songs. It also helps that she has found a new love and seems very happy after one year of marriage.
Miranda Lambert rushes to the altar
Lambert was linked to a number of different men in the wake of her split from Shelton. At the start of 2019, few fans thought she would tie the knot with her new boyfriend. After all, Lambert and McLoughlin had only been dating three months when they exchanged vows.
In a recent interview, Lambert opened up about her decision to take things to the next level with the New York City police officer.

Miranda Lambert explained how, after going through one failed marriage, she knew exactly what she was looking for in her next partner. And when she realized that McLoughlin checked all of her boxes, she was not afraid to make the big commitment.
“I feel like I’ve been through enough in my life to know what I don’t want. So, when I know what I do want, I snatch it right up,” Lambert stated.
She then noted that it was love at first sight with McLoughlin, which is about as adorable as it gets.
Blake Shelton gushes about Gwen Stefani
By the fall of 2015, Shelton had found a new love in Gwen Stefani. The two met while working on the set of The Voice and bonded over their divorces from Miranda Lambert and Gavin Rossdale.
Shelton and Stefani have not tied the knot, but there is no denying that they share one of the closest bonds in the music industry. After performing their hit song, “Nobody But You,” at the Grammys, Shelton opened up about his love for Stefani.
“She has a way of looking at life in a way that I’ve never experienced,” Shelton shared. “And she always says that she doesn’t understand what I mean, but she has a way of looking at a person’s situation from every angle.”
The “God’s Country” singer added that Stefani is one of the most kindhearted individuals he has ever met. He also revealed that the No Doubt frontwoman has become a massive country music fan since he started dating her.
Although the two are clearly going strong, they have yet to tie the knot. Inside sources claim that might change in 2020, though nothing official has been confirmed on that front.
Shelton and Stefani have not commented on Miranda Lambert’s latest remarks regarding the divorce. Before dating Shelton, Stefani went through a divorce, and is the mom of three boys.
